- Sold through authorised DJI Enterprise dealers; no price stated
On 4 November 2025, DJI released the Zenmuse L3, an aerial LiDAR system aimed at topographic survey, emergency response, heritage documentation, energy-infrastructure inspection and forestry [1]. DJI calls it its first long-range, high-accuracy aerial LiDAR system [1].
Key details
- LiDAR: 1535 nm, with a detection range of 950 m at a 100 kHz pulse rate on a target with 10% reflectivity (tested under 100 klx ambient light) [1].
- Accuracy: ranging repeatability of 5 mm at 150 m (1σ); vertical accuracy of 3 cm at 120 m, 5 cm at 300 m and 10 cm at 500 m; DJI says this supports mapping at 1:500, 1:1000 and 1:2000 scales [1].
- Point output: up to 2 million points per second and up to 16 returns, with a new star-shaped scanning mode; beam divergence is 0.25 mrad [1].
- Cameras: dual 100 MP 4/3 CMOS RGB sensors with a mechanical shutter, giving a 3 cm ground sample distance at 300 m flight height and up to a 107° horizontal field of view [1].
- Coverage: mounted on the DJI Matrice 400 at about 300 m altitude, DJI says one flight can cover up to 10 km² and a day up to 100 km², with a 20% LiDAR side overlap [1].
- Workflow: works with the D-RTK 3 Multifunctional Station, DJI Pilot 2, DJI Terra, DJI Modify and DJI FlightHub 2, and produces products such as DOM and DEM from a single flight [1].
Availability
DJI says the Zenmuse L3 is available through authorised DJI Enterprise dealers [1]. The announcement does not give a price.
What it means for surveyors
Long-range LiDAR is most useful where ground visibility through vegetation and large areas matter, such as corridors and terrain mapping. These are DJI's figures, measured in a controlled environment. Results on a real project depend on terrain, vegetation, flight plan and processing, so ask an authorised dealer for a demonstration and local pricing before planning around them.
