How BGol checks its news.

What we cover

News that matters to land surveyors, GIS professionals and the people who sell, service and regulate their tools: product launches, software and data releases, government programmes and rules, standards, events, and achievements from the community.

Source rules

• Every news item cites at least one primary source: the manufacturer, company, agency or standards body that the news is about.
• Where we also used trade press or other coverage, we list it as a secondary source.
• Each source shows its publisher and the date we checked it.
• Social media posts, forum threads, anonymous tips, rumours and marketing claims are never enough on their own.
• If we cannot verify it, we do not publish it.

Checks before anything goes live

• The primary source is on the organisation’s own website or an official government or standards domain.
• The announcement date, names, model numbers, figures and prices match the source.
• Quotes are attributed to named people and taken from the source.
• Claims are written as the organisation’s claims (“the company says”), not as our facts.
• The links open and were checked on the date shown.
• The summary is written in our own words, never copied.
• A human editor has approved it.

These rules are also built into the website: a news item without cited sources, a primary source or a recorded human approval is automatically hidden and does not appear anywhere on the site.

How we use AI

BGol uses AI tools to help look for announcements and draft summaries. AI output is never published as it comes. Every item is checked against the cited sources and approved by a person before it goes live.

Company-submitted PR

Verified businesses and individuals can submit news. We verify the company’s identity (GST registration and matching website and email domain) but not the truth of product claims, so those items are labelled “Company-submitted PR” and the claims are linked to the company’s own page. Publishing is free, and BGol does not accept payment for placement or favourable coverage.

Corrections

If you spot a mistake, email admin@bgol.in with the link and the correct information. We fix errors promptly and note the update on the article.

Independence

BGol is an independent community project. It is not affiliated with any manufacturer, dealer or agency mentioned in its news. Product and company names belong to their owners.
